Alabama's McElroy sustains concussion
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy sustained a concussion after getting slammed to the ground on a sack by cornerback T'Sharvan Bell.
McElroy was on the field for several minutes late in Friday's 28–27 loss to No. 2 Auburn and appeared wobbly as he was helped off the field. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban says it was a concussion but "nothing serious" and that McElroy "checked out good."
Backup A.J. McCarron couldn't deliver on a last–gasp drive in the final minute.
McElroy passed for a career–high 335 yards in the first half. He finished 27 of 37 for 377 yards and two touchdowns but was sacked five times.
